About

Human Terrains works in partnership with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people or businesses, to promote community development and resilience, while balancing cultural heritage ecosystems. We do this by conducting independent cultural heritage surveys of key places with the appropriate Aboriginal peoples, then work collaboratively to analyse results and promote authentic engagement between all parties.

Australian Aboriginal heritage, environmental knowledge and social networks extend back beyond 60,000 years. During this time there has been immense climate variation, adaptation and disruption. This rich cultural heritage of 'disruption' adaptation, ideology and meaning is not just tied to European colonisation buy also to the greater Asia Pacific region. This is the only group in the world that can provide humanity with a continuous unbroken insight into global transactional relationships.

Goals

Currently our field of operations is urban, regional and island parts of Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Queensland. We work closely with communities in areas of renewable energy, rail infrastructure, exploration and mining, agriculture, housing and land planning, water planning, sport and recreational space development and major conferences. We can incorporate film, website development and all areas of digital communications media. We also work closely with local artists and architects in the translation and interpretation of cultural meaning to broader audiences in diverse places.

Tomorrow our operations will step forward into the Asia Pacific region, tracing the renewed interest of Aboriginal and Australian businesses in trade with our near neighbours. Here are our step-by-step goals:

01.
Explore

Explore cultural links between Asia Pacific communities and Aboriginal Australians.

02.
interact

Innovate new ways to document and preserve cultural heritage. Promoting appropriate interaction with these culturally significant places.

03.
listen

Listen more effectively to Aboriginal voices and find ways to support and amplify their concerns about tradition, climate and environment.

04.
Be Resilient

Explore the resilience and change within business itself, seeking dynamic ways to reinvent and repurpose our explorative spirit that drives us all forward into the unknown.
