Q. Do we conduct Aboriginal Heritage Surveys?
A. Our expeditions often require that we document cultural ancestral connection to places. Great care is taken to ensure we identify the correct tribes, clans or language groups who are the correct Traditional Owners for a particular region.
Q. Where do we work?
A. We work throughout the whole of Australia and the greater Australasian Pacific region.
Q. Do we work with Environmental Scientists?
A. We often work closely with environmental scientists and environmental lobby groups as key stakeholders. Acknowledging that our different methodologies may differ in terms of significant places. By synergising these different understandings, we hope to give the best possible protection to places of sensitivity.
Q. Who are our clients?
A. Our clients can be anyone. Frequently we work with government, non-government organisations, universities, mining companies, mineral exploration companies, property developers, Aboriginal groups and environmental lobby groups.
Recently we worked for a tech start-up.
It is important to us that our clients wish to engage ethically and respectfully with all the different interest groups. We work very hard to mediate and negotiate particularly when there is a power imbalance between groups.
Q. Do we hire volunteers?
A. The short answer is 'yes'. Our work does require a high level of logistical organisation and adherence to legislation, including world's best practice Occupation Health and Safety regimes. Operating in extreme climates, in remote parts of Australia, we are therefore very selective of whom we consider appropriate for volunteer projects.
We can only offer minimal training in risk mitigation, so as a result we will screen volunteers for those with some work experience in high risk environments.
